Remembering 9/11

AMERICA magazine provides a round-up of stories from the past decade, including What Remains: Structure and story on the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 and Temporary and Timeless, my tenth-anniversary story on the impromptu memorials that arose in the days following 9/11. The one I will never forget honors the memory of Matthew Diaz.

My suggestion then remains the same today:

"Remember those promises we made to ourselves in the autumnal days of 2001: to meet more great people every day, simply by deciding to see their greatness; to treat ourselves and others with kindness and compassion; to stop and consider the beauty of the world; to do those things that frighten us most, whether offering an apology or moving away from habits or habitual situations that keep us stuck; to give thanks, often."
